Dr Anne-Marie Warris has over 25 years’ experience in sustainable matters and is a leading expert in climate change and environmental issues. She was voted as ‘Outstanding contributor to ship efficiency’ by the industry for the Ship Efficiency Award 2014 and on to the top ten on the inaugural Environmentalist power list by readers of The Environmentalist in July 2014. The power list reveals those who are believed to be the most influential in helping organisations to better their environmental impact or who have had an influence on raising environment issues up the business and policy agendas. Anne-Marie was awarded Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association UK (WISTA UK) Personality of Year for 2013. She gave the Royal Academy of Engineering invited lecture on ‘A low carbon world – is it realistic?’ in April 2010. She was one of the drivers behind the ‘Sustainable Shipping Initiative’. Anne-Marie attends IMO MEPC as part of the ISO delegation. She holds a number of key external voluntary roles, all of them elected appointments – chair of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) sub-committee responsible for environmental management systems. Poul Woodall has over 40 years of experience within the maritime and transport industry. The first 36 years were spent A.P.Moller-Maersk in various positions, mainly within the container and Ro/Ro segments. His career includes 17 years overseas experience with postings in Asia, The Middle East and Europe.
Since 2010, Poul has been with DFDS A/S in Copenhagen and in June 2013 he was appointed Director for Environment and Sustainability for the DFDS Group. Poul Woodall has a degree from Copenhagen Business School supplemented with management education at Insead and Stanford University. Poul is in the steering committees of the Trident Alliance and Green Ship of the Future and on the advisory board of IMPA-act and an affiliate Member of IEMA. He advises on a wide range of maritime issues including the importance of spatial data infrastructures and hydrography for maritime economies, the evolution of eNavigation and GNSS vulnerability, near or real time situational awareness (especially that derived from space based assets and applications), human factors, and training and education in the maritime sector. more

Anna is a Policy Manager to the UK Chamber of Shipping where she provides policy advice to the Safety and Environment team, covering the full spectrum of their work. She joined the UK Chamber of Shipping in June 2013 and a large part of her work involves issues related to the Ballast Water Management Convention, the development of a Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system of CO2 emissions for ships, short sea shipping and dangerous goods. Anna attends regularly IMO meetings as an advisor of the UK Delegation and works closely with a number of organisations, including the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA).
Prior to joining the UK Chamber, she has worked with some of the leading shipping companies where she gained an extensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory issues affecting the shipping industry. Tristan Smith is a lecturer at UCL Energy Institute where he leads a 15-strong shipping research group. He has an academic and practitioner background as a naval architect. He was coordinator of the project “Low Carbon Shipping” and is currently leading research activity in the project “Shipping in Changing Climates”.
He led the IMO 3rd GHG Study, a “big data” inventory of global shipping’s energy demand and emissions, is lead author of ISO 19030 on the application of data to understanding hull and propeller performance, and contributes to the IMO, EU and UK policy discussions on the use of data in MRV and GHG policy measures. more
