A master mariner and a committed proponent of the maritime users’ perspective, Rear Admiral Nick Lambert concluded a long naval operational career as the UK National Hydrographer in December 2012. He advises on a wide range of maritime issues including the growing potential of the blue economy concept, the importance of spatial data infrastructures and hydrography for maritime economies, the evolution of eNavigation and GNSS vulnerability, near or real time situational awareness (especially that derived from space based assets and applications), human factors, and training and education in the maritime sector. He has a particular interest in the Polar Regions and is also engaged in a variety of situational awareness, marine autonomous systems and vessel efficiency projects. more

Andreas Mrozek studied at the Universities of Hamburg and Stirling, Scotland. After graduation, he joined the container logistics department of Hamburg Süd in 1995. After various positions in the container logistics department and in the controlling department he was appointed in 2000 Joint General Manager of the business unit Continental Western Europe and thereafter of the business unit United Kingdom. In 2003 he was transferred as Joint Regional Director South America West Coast to Santiago, thereafter as Joint Regional Director South America East Coast to Sao Paulo. In 2011 Andreas Mrozek returned to Hamburg assuming the responsibility of the department Global Marine and Terminal Operations. more

Claire joined Shell three years ago in her current role managing the shipping economics team. The role of her team is to enable Shell to make the best business decisions with respect to shipping investments, divestments and future strategy. She began her career as a graduate trainee at Maersk, working in container shipping and then moved into shipping consultancy and analysis. Here, she undertook work for governments, international organisations and companies in the fields of maritime trade, maritime security and shipping markets. Before joining Shell, she was Head of Analysis for Maritime at Lloyd’s List/Informa, where she managed a team of 30 analysts in the UK, Singapore and the US delivering expertise across all sectors of maritime transport to the maritime industry. She regularly speaks at maritime conferences. more
Anwar Siddiqui, moved to the MEA region from Silicon valley for his current role as the Advisor to the CEO of Bahri – The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia heading corporate performance. At Bahri, he is leading a team for Bigdata and Advanced Analytics to improve Shipping Performance across global trade and he is passionately working with many players within the Maritime Industry to create a rich ecosystem which could potentially transform the Maritime industry itself. more

Thanos Korfiotis is the Group Performance Manager for Interorient Shipmanagement. Before joining the group’s head offices in Limassol, Cyprus, Mr. Korfiotis worked as Managing Director of Interorient (USA) LLC following a two-decade career in two of the big five Ship managers; in several senior management roles ashore covering all facets of ship management, as well as sale & purchase, newbuilding supervision, personnel management, procurement, fleet management and technical supervision. Mr Korfiotis holds Degrees in Economics and Law and is an active member of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber. more
Dr Anne-Marie Warris has over 25 years’ experience in sustainable matters and is a leading expert in climate change and environmental issues. She was voted as ‘Outstanding contributor to ship efficiency’ by the industry for the Ship Efficiency Award 2014 and on to the top ten on the inaugural Environmentalist power list by readers of The Environmentalist in July 2014. The power list reveals those who are believed to be the most influential in helping organisations to better their environmental impact or who have had an influence on raising environment issues up the business and policy agendas. Anne-Marie was awarded Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association UK (WISTA UK) Personality of Year for 2013. She gave the Royal Academy of Engineering invited lecture on ‘A low carbon world – is it realistic?’ in April 2010. She was one of the drivers behind the ‘Sustainable Shipping Initiative’. Anne-Marie attends IMO MEPC as part of the ISO delegation. She holds a number of key external voluntary roles, all of them elected appointments – chair of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) sub-committee responsible for environmental management systems. In early 2014 she became chair of the project committee funded by Innovate UK to look at the proof of concept for a technology package related to marine wave energy ‘CCell’. more

Tristan Smith is a lecturer at UCL Energy Institute where he leads a 15-strong shipping research group. He has an academic and practitioner background as a naval architect. He was coordinator of the project “Low Carbon Shipping” and is currently leading research activity in the project “Shipping in Changing Climates”.
He led the IMO 3rd GHG Study, a “big data” inventory of global shipping’s energy demand and emissions, is lead author of ISO 19030 on the application of data to understanding hull and propeller performance, and contributes to the IMO, EU and UK policy discussions on the use of data in MRV and GHG policy measures.

His current expertise and research interests cover areas of Strategy, Processes & IT, Lean Six Sigma, Commercial and Operational Optimization, Performance Management, Change Management and Skill building. He has a broad perspective on these topics but currently focuses most on challenges of the Maritime industry. He has previously worked in and been board member of a family owned company in the photo packaging industry, and also worked 3 years in Container Shipping (Maersk Line). His research is done in close collaboration with industry and emphasizes relevance, novelty and quality to the benefit of both practice and academia. The preferred approach is to combine quantitative and qualitative methods, use complementary data sources and bring various paradigms, theories and people into play with the aim of producing innovative results. more
Henrik Alfke is an expert for fleet performance management software solutions whose background blends computer science with maritime and ship-operation engineering. With degrees in maritime and ship-operation engineering, Henrik started as a ship mechanic in 1999 for a career at Hapag-Lloyd AG. After earning graduate degrees in maritime and ship-operation engineering at the University of Flensburg, Germany, and receiving the license as second engineer officer, Henrik completed a university degree in computer science at the Hagen Open University. Henrik has been a software developer at INTERSCHALT since 2009. A technical product manager in the area of vessel and fleet performance management, he decisively contributed to the development of Bluetracker. more

Over his 8 year career in the Cruise Line Industry, he has accrued extensive experience with project management, process improvements and Capex planning. In addition he also oversees the execution of all Hydrodynamic, Machinery & Electrical projects and tracks the company’s long range goals towards GHG reduction. His dedicated fleet optimization leadership spans: deployment, newbuild, emission abatement, fuel/emission regulation and procurement.
